The Westminster Kennel Club dog
show is a benched show. This means that the dogs must remain in
their assigned benching area from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, with
exceptions to potty breaks. This allows the spectators a chance
to meet and greet each breed. New Yorkers had many
questions about Mastiffs the most common question was "how
much does he weigh?!!!" followed by how much do they eat? and
how old is he? We were surprised to find out how many owned
mastiffs and not surprised by how many wanted to be mastiff
owners.
Jack touched many people's hearts being one of the
oldest dogs in the show and the oldest mastiff by three years.
Jack and Scottie's ability to "go with the flow" and allow all
those people to snap pictures, hug them and just stand and stare
is a true attribute to the breed and their upbringing.
Their behavior and patience was remarkable, marks of true
Champions.
