Ch. Ironhills Tub Thumping "Ernie"
MBIS BISS CH Iron Hills Into the Night X
Iron Hills Candy Apple 10/9/97-6/30/07 Ernie was a yearling when he came to us from Scott Phoebus of Iron Hills Mastiffs, and he lived a very long and exciting life. Although he was initially not fond of the show ring, he did finish his championship handled by Julie Rock. Ernie was a very well-structured boy, with excellent bone and a large deep front, coupled with an exceptionally strong rear. And his head was nothing short of beautiful, with a lovely earset and short muzzle. His only vice was that he had a penchant for eating things like phones, remote controls, and toys. I have a collection of X rays from our vet office documenting these objects he ingested. Thankfully, most exited the easier and more inexpensive route, however, a couple had to be surgically extricated. I decided to bring Ernie out of retirement at the Las Vegas show on his 7th birthday, and he came to life that day. At 7 years old, Ernie showed really well in the veterans class, and did so up until he was 9.5 years old. He might have been completely gray in his mask, but he moved extremely well, with excellent reach and drive even as a very old Mastiff. Ernie lives on through his three beautiful girls: Moxie, Penny and Dazzle. My mom and I miss Ernie very much and know that he is at the Bridge with his beloved Shelby and Whitney. March, 2012 |
